Wanderlust

A wanderer treads the sky blue sea
gazing into clear shallow waters.
No thoughts arise except fond memories.
Rippling waves wash over her bare feet.

One glance toward the horizon
reveals a shimmering mirage.
The earth’s curved lineage
is an untold lie.

Dive–dive deep into the soothing waves.
Eyes closed, palms out,
thrusting against the tide,
mind and body propelled into the depths
of waters near and far.

Release her breath,
float upwards,
break the surface.
Inhale.
Exhale.

With tear-soaked eyelids
and a salty taste on her lips,
peace finally came.
